January 3, 2008 – 11:52 am | by Rick VecchioPolice stepped back from definitively identifying Cesar Alexis Atoche as “Cyber Alexis,” saying in a written statement released Friday to the Andean Air Mail & Peruvian Times that Atoche “could be the person who ‘hacked’ into the Chilean Housing Ministry and Interior Ministry pages in 2005 and 2007.”
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Manuel Diaz said Atoche was being interrogated in the presence of a defense lawyer, and that police were not ready to identify him as Cyber Alexis.
“There is evidence, but there isn’t proof,” he said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
